Frizzy Hair
8 Answers
I have really frizzy, uncontrollable, dry dull hair that I am completely in despair with. To make matters worse I used to have lovely shiny, wavy hair which I ruined with straighteners. Now it is more curly which just adds to the frizzy problem as it goes completely wild when I brush it, but just looks unkept if I don't. I don't have a particualrly attractive face so pretty hair is really important to me. I've tried frizeaze but not really found it helped. I just wear my hair up in a bun the whole time, and it looks really pathetic. I'm only 16. I would be grateful for any suggestions at all (treatments, styles, products etc). Thanks.

I have exactly the same type of hair and I've come close to shaving it off completely, tank girl style, but thankfully I don't have the courage. I do a lot of sports and so I have to wash my hair every day and I'll usually tie it back really tight until its dry after washing and yes, that is lame. I wouldn't bother too much about all these "miracle" products, believe me i've tried them and most don't even come close to what they claim to do, they're just aimed at people like you and I with the sole intention of making huge amounts of money. I find the best way to control my hair is to make sure to have it cut regularly (6 weeks at most) and have it done by a good hairdresser and make sure you tell them exactly what your hair is like.Once my hairdresser finally found out my hair was naturally curly/wavy I got the most awesome haircuts and I can now actually wear my hair down. You should always use a good conditioner (pantene for dry hair is good) I found the more expensive "frizz fighting" types actually make the hair too soft and so ultimately more frizzy. If I want to wear my hair down I wash and condition it, dry(blot) with a towel and leave it to go curly, maybe apply a little serum and just leave it to dry naturally. Your hair is prone to go curly when its wet and there are loads of products available to activate curls. Oh, also, NEVER brush curly hair, its like the ultimate sin, yes it will go frizzy if you brush it. Well, im sorry about writing an essay. I hope it helps.
I had the same problem. When I was little my mom took me to the salon to chemically straighten my curly hair. So, now if I dont put chemicals in it it'll look like I was homeless of something. My hair wont go curly or it wont go straight. Have you tried Pantene Pro-v products? I used the intensive restoration treatment conditioner and it tamed it down. and to straighten it i use:
1. Leave in conditioning treatment, then:
2. Corrective Hair Serum
3. Blow dry it
4. Use a straightening iron
Hope this works, bye
wzlwmm speaks the truth, you can get hold of a book called 'Curly Girls', it is co-written by Lorraine Massey, a hairdresser who specialises in dealing with curlies. You will find it on Amazon and it is a great way to teach you to deal with your curly hair. My hair used to be mega frizzy before I realised that it was actually curly, and insisted on brushing it. I never use shampoo on my hair (a Curly Girl tip) and just wash it every day with conditioner, this has improved it no end. also, never comb or brush your hair when you have washed it- run you fingers through it once or twice to seperate the curls, then flick it upside down and scrunch it gently with a towel to take out most of the moisture. You NEED serious products with curls- the best I have found are by Tigi and are called 'curls rock'- they do a leave in moisturiser and a brilliant styling creme. if you scrunch a fair amount of this into your hair, and then either use a diffuser to dry it- or let it dry naturally- you will find that you have lovely bouncy curls rather than unsightly frizz! Other slightly cheaper products that I use daily in my hair (keeping expensive one for special occasions!) are trevor sorbie curl cream (from boots) mixed together with Sheer Blonde Funky Chunky (a bottle of gel) these things really give good hold. I have been through about a million hair products and these are the best I have found. I would also recommend buying a slightly more expensive conditioner- pantene coats your hair in sticky stuff and after the first few washes makes it even frizzier- there are some lovely moisturising shampoos and conditioners by Philip Kingsley which last for ages (so even though they are more expensive it is worth it). I get my stuff from www.cosmeticsdirect.co.uk- they sell all the tigi and philip kingsley things. Good Luck!
