I have an obnoxious teenage son who I actually secretly detest at the moment. I am currently reading a great book which allows me to see the humourous side, it's called "Get Out Of My Life, But First Take Me And Alex Into Town" by Tony Wolf & Suzanne Franks. It made me laugh and was very helpful. You can probably get it on Amazon.

As a "sulky, moody stroppy teenage girl " myself... The best thing you can do is leave her be, if she wants to be alone, let her be alone. Whatever you do, dont go around stating the obvious (telling her shes a moody so&so etc...). :)
Give her 20 and tell her to go out and enjoy herself! Worked on me every time. Nothing speaks to teenagers more than money. Plus sympathise with everything even if it's ridiculous and tell her she's wonderful.
as long as she doesn't show signs of severe depression, drugs or alcohol abuse then it seems you've done a great job so far. she's learning to be independent but still dependent at the same time. remember the terrible two's? that was just preparation for teens. just reassure her that your there if she needs you and leave it be. talking to a teenage girl is like talking to a stubborn man, they have to listen when you talk but yo have to keep it short and sweet and let them mull it over by themselves. and just like a man you'll never know if you really got through to them but sooner or later their actions will speak volumes.
Make her watch Kevin and Perry and take the mickey out of her behaviour.
Give her a great big hug when she's in the middle of a strop and tell her you love her. It can work a treat and make you both feel better.
PARENTS, pleeeeease read a book by Ross Campbell - How to really love your child and/or How to really love your teenager. Great books, very realistic, easy reading and an eye opener. Life saving stuff!!!
