14 year old girl pregnant by 15 year old boy is it illegal
A 14 year old girl pregnant by 15 year old boy, i thought this was illegal and the boy should get done?
But i'm confused, as the girls mother has had problems and social services are involved, social services have now placed the girl living with the parents of the boy who got her pregnant so they live in the same house. Surely this is not only immoral but condoning what the teenagers have done.
The mother of the girl does not want her daughter living with him and his parents, she wants her living with her aunt or her nan. But social services have said that they are not sure if this can be done because the daughter wants to stay with her boyfriend!!
Surely even though the mother cannot have the daughter living with her, the daughter should be placed with her own family.
I find it bizarre and unbelievable that social services are considering leaving her with him and his parents. The boy was expelled from school at 14 for having cannabis on him and fighting constantly.
Please does anybody know if the mother has any legal say in the choosing of where her daughter lives, she is still the legal guardian and still has parental responsibility?

Thanx legend758, i suppose if they both consent it is hard to prosecute!!
As for the rest of my question or perhaps statement, i find it hard to believe that s.services have placed her with him and his parents. There is only 3 weeks till the baby is due and they are talking about the baby, the girl and boy still living under the same roof. Playing happy families at 14 and 15 they are still children themselves. I dont understand how this would even be considered.
Also the boys sister had a baby at 15. Where do some parents responsibilities lie!!

Technically the girl could be prosecuted too, for having sex with an under age boy.
But really, if all 15 year old boys who are having sex with their under 16 girlfriends, the courts would be chockablock.
The girl is living where she is because she is old enough to make a decision - and threaten to run away if she doesn't get her own way.
I agree it's not right, but that is modern life.
The girl's mother may have parental responsibility, but always it is 'the best interest of the child' that the courts and social services take into account.
Maybe it is not best that she lives with her mum.

Totally agree Judge
Pregnant at 14 = Life over, bang out another couple before you are 20, live off benefits all your life whilst sitting around in your jogging bottoms all day smoking Richmonds, then when your offspring reach 15 repeat cycle indefinately
What is wrong with these people regarding contraception??? Burger me it;s free at your local health centre

I think it is their chosen lifestyle, Rev.
They have seen their parents (probably only one, actually) and probably grandparents live in exactly the same manner. The thought that there could be any other (perhaps more pleasant and enjoyable) lifestyle completely escapes them.
The question of contraception does not arise, because the passport to this lifestyle is children. Yesterday in the course of my work I met a girl of 19. She had three children of her own aged four, three and two and was stepmother to two more aged thirteen and sixteen. Her partner (currently a serving prisoner) was the father of the two teenagers and the eldest of the youngsters. So here she is, scarcely more than a child herself, looking after five children, one almost as old as she is.
Successive governments have tried to cure this problem by throwing money at it. The money has all gone on junk food, tobacco, booze and drugs. They all now live in deprived neighbourhoods. Though what they are deprived of I dont know. Its certainly not cash. It is absolutely lavished on them.
I dont really care how people lead their lives as long as they don't interfere with mine. Some of my other posts will demonstrate that I am in favour of as little state interference as possible. But I do object to having to pay for such ************.
Hence my sympathy for the taxpayer.

Rev that was probably the funniest thing I've seen posted for a while!
These are sometimes known as "Romeo and Juliet" cases and the CPS do not generally think they are in the public interest to prosecute.
There guidelines on these cases are here http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/section7/chapter_f .html

Thanx for your answers.
I quite agree with the comments made, having teenage girls myself, who are slightly older than the girl mentioned I would be disgusted, & they would not be going down this route.
I dont understand how society seems to accept this situation on teenage pregnancys, & regards it as one of those things because the youth of today has changed.
Perhaps parental responsibility should mean just that.
But can I mention, that neither family are on benefits, (dont know what happens when she has the baby) and this lifestyle is not passed down from previous generations on the girls side, not the case on his side, as mentioned his sister in similar situation at this age. (A complete shock for the girls family that she was having a sexual relationship, definately not what had been expected of her as she was to go to university, and even at her young age with her grades this was the path she WAS to be taking, NOT the same future had been mapped out for him)
As for contraception she supposedly forgot to take it, not a good answer, old enough to act this way, then old enough to take precautions on both sides.

I think you have to be clear whether your outrage is directed at her sexual relationship or the fact that she is pregnant and keeping it.
16 is a relatively arbitary age that we've come to and in some countries like Spain it's much lower certainly younger than these two are.
Some people are quite able to have a responsible sexual relationship at that age and some are not.
I think you need to be really careful about who is the victim here!
The law is not there to provide vengence for outraged parents.

Quite so, jake, the law is indeed not about vengeance.
However, when it can be demonstrated to me that, in general, two children of that age are able to provide the parental guidance, emotional support and (most importantly as far as I am concerned) the financial wherewithal that a child needs, then I may agree that their actions and the result are acceptable.
The laws of this land were evolved over many years, usually with a sound basis. The age of consent is one such law and I cannot see any need for it to move with the times. What other countries may or may not have in place is not relevant.

Its not only the fact that they have both been irresponsible(but then they are still only children themselves) but if anything my anger is at social services, as i dont understand where they are coming from, to consider leaving the girl and baby with his parents!!
What happens when the young couple split up, as there is no way this so called relationaship is going to last. (The lad has already been seen with somebody else, and were definately more than just friends!! Which he has denied and the girl believes him) At least if the girl and baby are with other members of her own family the split is then not going to affect where she lives.
This is why I asked, as the mother cant have them live with her, she still is legal guardian, surely she has the right to say she does not want her daughter and grandchild living with him and his parents?
The police have been involved due to incidents concerning the boy, and are of the same opinion, they dont understand social services actions in placing the girl with his family.
