We had 2 dtrs. When they both married, they bonded with their MIL's quickly(for which we're thankful), and their new husbands kept the special relationship w/their mothers & fathers...we've always treated the SIL's well, always got on with both they and our daughters, but it really feels like nobody 'bonded'with us, and we feel left out. Any help? Is it like this for most parents of daughters?

I also have two children both have now moved on, my daughter is very secure in her new life and I doesnt seem to need me like before .I suppose it is because she is knows that I will always be there for her that she doesnt have to prove it to me , your lasses are prop busy trying to fit in with inlaws ect . Your their best friend and they know it ,just dont feel they have to put in a lot of effort . Your love is unconditional and your gilrs know that . Its just how it should be ,and they will always want there mum and dad if things are difficult .they are very lucky to have you good luck trisha

thanks Trisha, that helps a bit. I guess I was just wonderin why son's-in-law's kept their close relationship to their families when they married our daughters, but didn't seem to 'bond' with us the way our daughter's 'bonded' with their new families then? not trying to feel sorry for myself, I just feel so lonely and left out of the loop, and it hurts? planning on going back to Uni in January to further my degree in nursing -maybe that will help keep me busy, and I'll have something 'just for me.' thanks again :)
