Sounds dramatic doesn't it but it was exactly how I felt at the time! We discussed it several times and my husband was so stubborn and like yours dead against it.
I let him know exactly how I felt then kept quiet and silently thought to myself how we were going to get through it if he never changed his mind. Fortunately a week later he did! I cried with relief but now he has no job so we have had to put it on hold anyway! (typical).
My advice would be to discuss it calmly and sensibly again with both of you giving your reasons why. At 26, you are hardly going to be too old if you wait a few years! I am 32 so compared to you ancient!
If he still refuses then just be patient, he might change his mind in years to come and keep the baby stuff just in case, I sold all mine!

Perhaps you could wait a while, as you are still young, and see what happens. Have you thought that your partner could be worrying about the present economic situation, as babies are very expensive, and the employment situation is very uncertain with companies going bankrupt and employees losing their jobs. Try talking this aspect over with your partner, as men are not particularly open about their worries. Then maybe in a couple of years, if the economy becomes more stable, perhaps you both might like to have another baby. Best wishes.
