Iwas picking my son up from school yesterday, when a few fellow parents were waiting outside ny the gate where we all usually stop for a chat. Anyway all our attentions turned to our friend susan who has had a turn of bad luck lately with her husband being made redundant as well as other things. and we asked her how they were managing nowadays, afterall there has been so many times she has been crying on our shoulders about how skint they are and how she's worried she is going to lose there home etc. Naturally we all have really felt for her and offered to help in whatever way we could wether it being babysitting so they dont have to pay for childcare and i have even lent her money on a couple of occasions. Well to our suprise she comes out with how there better off than ever at the moment and how she's off on a weekend away with the girls from work and how she has got to get her nails done etc before she goes. I for one was shocked by this as a few weeks before she was pouring out her concerns to us all so i said ' thats fantastic i take it your man has got another job? to which she replied ' well between you and me hes got a job in my dads pub off the books, weve got a 6 month mortgage holiday because hes on the dole, we have got reduced council tax, weve got more money than ever now than when we were both working!' Maybe im just bitter, who knows but i feel she is bang out of order, everyone is feeling the pinch nowadays and have struggles but she is taking the mick here and is abusing the system and me as many of times i have helped out. Why do so many people get away with this??????????? Im not a grass so i wont report it but im so mad at her i just want to scream, me and my partner work our backsides into the ground and what help do we get........nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway i just needed to get that off my chest, what do you think?

being a tax payer myself ( alot of bloody tax) it is annoying when you work hard get hundreds a month taken off you in tax just to fund someone who cant be bothered working!!!
but as i have got older i have realised its not always as cut and dry as that, some ppl genuinly cant live on what they have and get drawn into a day here a day there off the books and its the only way they stay above water,
but as for your friend totally abusing it with holidays and such!! no thats wrong totally.

is not the point of a payment holiday on your mortgage - NOT to spend your money instead on holidays and manicures.. but to get your SORRY asses back in shape and sort things out? If I was fortunate enough to be given a payment holday from our mortgage (and I bet I wouldnt qualify!!!) then I would use every penny I had to prepare for when the holiday ends and mortgage is back on again.
Yes thats what I was thinking Nosha. Don't worry gossipgirl - they'll probably come unstuck at some point like when they have to start paying their mortgage again and realise they haven't saved up to afford it. They're not doing themselves any favours by getting too used to not having to pay a mortgage. When they have to start paying it again it will be a shock.
