Chidren's urine in carpet

I have a 2 year old niece that accidentally urinated on a carpet.  Is it possible that the smell of a two year old's urine could be intolerable that you would need to replace the entire carpet?

I don't think I'd replace a whole carpet just beacause of a little girl's wee wee. Mind you that depends if the carpet has seen better days & how many times it's been wee'd on. A carpet cleaning spray, or tepid water & a little rub with a cloth should mop it up, then spray it with Febreeze if need be.

There was a similar question about vomit recently. Basic fact of life: small child in room = high probability of unpleasant organic fallout in carpet. As the others say, don't replace it: unless you can _absolutely_ guarantee there will never be another child in the room, you could become the carpet salesman's best friend.

Soda Water is good for getting wee (both human and pet) out of carpets.

I work with a woman who has a daughter with severe epilepsy.Often when she has a fit she will wet herself.My workmate has spent years removing urine smells from all over her house and swears that vinegar is the best solution to the problem.

make sure you clean and dry up quickly after the accident otherwise the water will seep into the underlay where it won't easily dry our and can start to rot / mould and stink to high heaven as it stays nice and warm (yuk). you may need to pull back the carpet and make sure it is dry underneith, clean up the other side to as suggested above

not sure on stains but with smell u should be buying fabreeze, its the mothers bible when it comes to getting rid of smells and dont tell the mrs but i used a bottle of the stuff in our wheelie bin last month and it worked a treat...shhhh!!

If it's really bothering you, hire a carpet cleaner. I get the Rugdoctor from Johnsons for �14 every three months and it does wonders - our cream wool carpet is constantly attacked from all angles by my four year old son and his range of playmates from baby to teenager. It's shifted wee, sick, curry, red wine, pen, chocolate and every other type of 'normal' household stain!
