Rehydration
7 Answers
I'm suffering from a bad patch of chronic diarrheah which isn't uncommon for me but am trying to combat feeling so dehydrated with it and have a recurring fissure due to it so feeling pretty miserable at the moment.
Am usually on sulfasalazine which helps but have to had to come off it for a while due to some infections.
I have just moved so inbetween doctors so went into Boots earlier to look at the rehydration sachets but they said not to take them as they also replace salt and I have to be careful with sodium levels due to meniere's disease.
Luckily managed to get to docs to sort out medication for the fissure before I moved so at least I have something for that.
Does anyone have any idea as to how to rehydrate better in addition to just drinking as many fluids as possible?
Am currently under gastro investigation and they think it might be something in my small bowel. Colon seems fine so have just had malabsorbtion (sehcat) scans and awaiting camera pill. They seem to be thinking possible crohns as I have inflammatory arthritis and a vitamin D deficiency as well.
Long wait to get back to gastro but will get back to docs when I get a new one, just hoping I can find something to help in the meantime.
Thanks for any help :)

your bod is built to use it... if you can't use salts - you don't have much choise.
little often isbetter than lots once - become a yoof ... carry a bottle and empty it ... hourly ... or whatever works.
the test is the colour if your widdle
clear - good
coloured - drink more

Thank you all :) I love Lucozade Sport so will get on that and that water and try and get to the docs asap.
Will keep a check AC :)
Bananas sound good to me too. Trip to Tesco for me later I think :) I'm going to get a load of little bottles of water I can keep in the fridge at work. Bottled water tends to have sodium in in so that might help as long as I don't go mad :)
Thanks Ice :) It's going to be a while before anything is sorted I think. It will be a few weeks for the scan results to go back to gastro then I've still got to wait for the pill camera scan and the waiting list for that is about 6 months then got to wait to get back to gastro themselves as waiting list is mad.
I had an appointment booked in November last year which had to be cancelled and I didn't get another appointment until May.
Once I'm back on the sulfasalazine that should calm things down a bit, it certainly makes things more comfortable.
