What kind of teethers do people recommend? Water filled ones that you chill in the fridge but have no handle (Do these make the baby\'s hands cold?!) Or hard plastic ones (Can these hurt a baby with poor coordination?!)

Which ones have you used that the baby finds easy to hold?

Not one of my children (I have 5) have been interested in a teether. The cold ones from the fridge never seemed to get that cold so I don't think your baby's hands will get cold. I don't think that your baby will have a problem with co-ordination - soon they will be jabbing anything they can into their mouth.
Put a clean damp face cloth into a plastic bag in the freezer for a while. Take it out and take it out the bag and give to baby - nice and cool, nice and chewable and nice and safe.
