can you take baby powder formular milk and baby food, like jars and tins abroad in the hold luggage?

http://www.heathrow-a...e.co.uk/security.html says you can take liquids of any amount in your hold luggage. You are also allowed baby-food, milk or sterilised water in your hand-luggage, the amount is meant to be what would be sufficient for the journey. You may be asked to taste it at customs.
be aware if taking food outside of europe as many countries will restrict the importing of meat, fish and dairy products which may be in jars of baby food.
