My 10 week old is trying to suck his thumb but cannot yet do this and gets his fists instead which really frustrates him! He has a dummy but is constantly knocking it out and its driving me crazy as he won't settle unless its in!
How old do you think he will be when he has the coordination to do it?

Take the dummy away completely and he will then get his thumb or fingers after a while. This way you won't have the problem of finding the dummy when it falls out during the night and also having to buy several as they get lost etc. The fingers and thumbs cannot be the chosen comforter if there is sometimes a dummy in the way. Babies often only get the hang of thumb or finger sucking sometime around or later than 10 weeks.
My daughter sucked her thumb starting on the day she was born.
