I just got off the phone from my mother and during the conversation, I casually asked, "How was your flight back?"

"Horrendous", came the reply.

She'd sat next to a couple with five children under the age of 6. They were screaming, shouting, fighting and jumping up and down on the seats. The parents, apparently, said and did nothing. If two adults were to shout, scream, fight among themselves on a flight, they'd be met at the other end by armed police ! Why don't parents discipline their children nowadays?

Mum also got talking to another couple with two teenage girls - all of whom were clinically obese. She asked the father what he did for a living, and was rendered almost speechless when he declared that "work is for fools" and that no one in their right mind would work when they don't have to. She changed the subject and asked if they'd found it more expensive in Spain these days - he replied by saying, "Well, money's no object when you're on holiday, is it !"

I wouldn't have been as polite as my mother.

I know my son kicked me in the head last night.....but I do discipline them....lol

He wouldn't have done it had I been awake...
NoM...Good morning my love. Nothing new there then.

I have just learned that in Spain, one only gets unemployment benefit for 2 years and if one hasn't got a job the, state money stops.

Can you confirm this?
That sounds like a good idea Sqad....
sorry NM didn't see it when I set my own gripe,
it's scary

'Fraid not, Sqad. I've never looked into benefits here. I'll ask one of the locals if I can remember.

Ummmm... I'm sure your kids don't wear the trousers in your household. If my mother had said to me, "Sit down, shut up, I don't want to hear another peep out of you." I would have done so without recourse to further discipline. Why can't that be done nowadays?

Bobbi... I'm relieved I'm not the only one having a moan. I'm half expecting to get stick for "my bad attitude" to children and benefits recipients. I love children, but cannot see why they are allowed to get away with such disgraceful behaviour.
They certainly do not. Both boys have been chucked out of the living room twice already. That's just for normal kids behaviour that I don't feel will should not have to put up with.

We need a boxing ring....lol

My kids are naughty boys.....but they wouldn't dare to disrespect me or any other adult. I'd give them a hiding.....
did he say he was on benefits he may have been a lottery winner . lol
Sqad, two years of unemployment benefit is correct.
"You retain the right to unemployment benefits for a maximum period of 2 years, provided that you have worked during 6 years before becoming unemployed."

But there are other benefits available after that. Don't forget in the UK contribution based unemployment benefit is payable for 6 months only.
hc4361....thanks for that link.

Sqad, more information here.

Spanish unemployment benefit is dependent on your previous earnings and is usually paid at the rate of 65% of your wage. Compare this to the £60 odd that is paid in the UK. It doesn't matter if you are living rent free or your partner is earning mega money, you still get that 65% for 2 years.
After that, subsidies are paid if there is no other household income.

Had a day out yesterday, went in to Manchester. Went to draw some money out of the ATM in Piccadilly , guy there in between the queues begging for money, this makes my blood boil, may be I was in a bitch of a mood but his positioning while people are getting there hard earned money out really pisses me off! Journey home on the bus rowdy! Two idiots, think they might have had a hearing problem, they couldn't converse without shouting??
Sachs i got on the 216 to asda eastlands the other week , ticket inspector gets on with 2 policemen. then you wonder why you never see any police on the streets.
Quite a regular event Filth. To be honest I'm all for it, so many trying to dodge on without paying. Four lads tried getting on on our bus at 6.00am Oxford road, bus driver stood his ground, all he got back was f .. ing wan ... I begrudge paying 625.00 for a yearly pass for scumbags to think they have the right to board for free!!

We've got a lot of Romanians hanging around next to the trolley park in Mercadona etc. When you take your trolley back and get your 1euro out, they beg for the coin. The one lady I've seen has been escorted from the carpark by the store manager several times. She just comes straight back as soon as he disappears back inside the store.
there was a bloke in his 30s yesterday asking us for money to get back to Glasgow... from Newcastle
