unauthorise absence from london school
i sent a letter to my 5 year sons school advising them that my son would be out of school for 9 days to come on our family holiday / our honeymoon. It was also explained that due to our working commitments these had been the only two weeks we can take off together.
The school has since sent a letter stating they can not authorise the holiday as my son's attendance is 92% and need to be over 95%. His attendance is only down due to him getting swine flu and having to take 5 days (as instructed by the school) and breaking his arm (at school)
Any ideas what i do now?
we still plan to go on holiday but would rather have the schools consent.
thank

The 95% attendance is one of those government target things, the school get nagged if the kids don't achieve it...personally at that age when they are mingling with new friends and their new germs I would have thought 95% fairly unachievable.

Whatever they feel they can't give consent and must mark it down as unauthorised. Just do it and as he gets older of course you will rearrange accordingly My daughter broke her arm at school and afterwards the teachers kept saying we are disappointed with her absences, she had flu twice that year also, when I mentioned this they just repeated parrot fashion, its a pity about all these absences. I could have torn my hair out LOL.
