What age do children these days stop believing in Santa? My daughter is 8, and I reckon if not this year, probably next. I feel kids are smart and kid on they still believe as they reckon they'll get more presents...

My daughter is 5 so obviously i dont have to worry about it for a while, but i think i would keep up the magic unless they ask really. Maximum tell them when go up to secondry school, oh it must be horrible telling them, its as if you are dashing all there dreams- soz that dont really help. x
My sister and I worked it out for ourselves. I can't remember at what age but it wasn't terribly traumatic. Our parents did the whole thing with weird handwriting, mince pies and sherry left out, prezzies stuffed into pillow-cases, the lot.
If memory serves, my sister and I were never fully 'convinced' but loved it anyway and found it magical. We re-enacted it as adults at future family x-mases a few times just for old time's sake :-)

They figure it themselves. I think it only hurts them when an another kid shocks them. Our tenant's children did not believe at all and the daughter told my brother when he was about 6. My mom was so angry. The other mother said her child did nothing wrong and she did not teach her children to lie!
My boyfriend's kids were raised to not believe either (the mother is quite religious). But, they were told if they EVER ruined it for another a child they would have a very sorry Christmas for themselves.

I haven't believed in Santa Since I heard noise, went down stairs and saw dad drinking the brandy and letting my gerbils nibble the end of the carrot he'd chopped off.
But he still wants me to and it ended in tears one year because I went down stairs and he said 'has santa been' and I went 'no he doesn't exist' and he wouldn't come down stairs until mum heard me crying and made him.
