A current thread ("Tiger Feet") over in 'Music' has just led onto references to Christmas Number hits in the UK. Here's a list to help you remember them:

Be honest, how many did you buy and how many do you think have 'stood up to the test of time'?

OK, I admit to buying 'Long Haired Lover from Liverpool'!

So come on now, admit it. There must be somebody who actually bought 'Mr Blobby'!

Not guilty. Mull of Kintyre always makes me think of Linda McCartney on TOTP with those bloody tartan socks!

Stuff the tartan socks, Lankeela!
If they used that much dry ice these days, the BBC's Health and Safety officer would have a heart attack!

The only years I don't have in one format or another are 1952, 1994, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Day Tripper, Bohemian Rhapsody, Don't You Want Me and Mad World are probably the only tracks that I'd listen to at a whim.
I have downloaded some of those songs listed on the chart in the link you've posted. Most on the chat I like so I might download them too. Thanks.
95% of Christmas No.1s are pure crap!.

I'm in favour of getting bird is the word to No.1 this year....
Ok Ok Max Bygraves You need Hands.
Mrs Mills plays Christmas melodies (or something like that)
"I'm in favour of getting bird is the word to No.1 this year.... "

Build it, and they will come.
I'm sorry, but any field of dreams quote has just lost you any street cred you may have had!
How about if I knew the quote, but had no idea where it was from?
Question Author
As 'music classics' (irrespective of any Christmas connections), the only titles I can find in that list are
"Just Walkin' in the Rain"
"What Do You Want to Make Those Eyes at Me For?"
"Moon River"
"Return to Sender"
"I Want to Hold Your Hand" and
"Bohemian Rhapsody"

As 'Christmas classics' I'd have to add
"Merry Xmas Everybody" and
"Do They Know It's Christmas?"

The rest I'd be happy to consign to Room 101 ;-)
"How about if I knew the quote, but had no idea where it was from? "

Then I've just lost any street cred I might of had for knowing that :)
Benny Hills's Ernie the fastest milkman was a classic!
Sparks - "Thank God It's Not Christmas"

Tigger:
Yes I loved 'Ernie'
I still love 'Ernie'
I'd just have preferred it if you'd not forced me to admit to it ;-)

Question Author
Hi Jem:
My Ding-a-ling was issued in 1972.
I loved it but it's a pity that many people only know Chuck Berry's music because of it. (He's a truly great musician and that novelty hit is hardly representative of his work)
