Potty Training
Started potty training my 2.5yr old this morning at 10 am (put her in knickers instead of a nappy) after an hour and a half she had a very small accident, but other than that hasn't had a wee all day.
She's drinking and knows where the potty is, I've asked every 30 mins if she needs to go, sometimes she's even been and sat on the potty and the toilet, but nothing happened.
How long can she go on like this? should I give up for today and put a nappy on her?

No don't give up now! Just try not to put so much pressure on her. I know its hard not to but I think constantly reminding her to wee will make her stressed about it. I would just use nappies for bed and pants all the time now, even when going out. Its a pain but the only way to do it quicker unless it just confuses the child. Good luck!
she used the potty once eventually, but mostly because she was soooo desperate after waiting for 8.5 hours!! I ended up bribing her with stickers yesterday but today she has had 2 poos and 4 wees - not one of them on the potty.......maybe she's just not read yet?! It's getting to the point where she is getting upset by it all, no matter how calm we are.
that's pretty much the toliet training in a day method zzxxee, you also let dolly have an "accident", then dolly has to clear it up and be shown how to go properly in the toilet again. Loads of praise for dolly when she goes in the potty and same for the child. you have to comit to being in the house with no distractions for the day. In the morning, there is no tv, no toys no anything except toilet training, loads of drinks and loads of praise (and treats), introduce tv and toys etc back in the afternoon. As I said, did it with both mine and lucky if the had about 2 accidents in the week after then nothing at all. We were worried as they needed to be dry before nursery @ age 3 but had shown no interest in training at all up to that point.
we've given up for now because she was playing in the bathroom with her dad, and weed all over the floor whilst stood next to the potty. she just doesn't want to sit on the potty and won't even consider the toilet. HV says if it normally takes 3 days, so since day 2 was so much worse than day 1, it didn't look hopeful.
Thanks for the link, think I'll get the book and see if we can get it right next time!

Don't give up during day. It is just about time and one day you won't even need to ask her if she needs to pee :). I used nappies for nights. Later when she was fine during day she was nearly fine during night. So she slept without nappies but I always took her to the toilet before I went to sleep. And after some time - she was perfectly fine.
Good luck!
