which coil? normal or mirena?
2 Answers
on waiting list for the coil, due to have it in around a mth. on progesterone only pill whih is same hormone as mirena coil and can give sporadic bleeding, had this before but now its settled down but it gives me acne!!! nurse said as the coil only disperses the hormone in the uterus, i could be less experiencing these effects?! as the pill hormone gets circulated around the body....she said its not known if i would be less likely to have sporadic periods cos im not now, as everyone can be different...the normal coil will give me heavier and longer periods though. i like th thought of no hormones but i cant stand the thought of having this put in if im going to want it taken out again!! has anyone switched to mirena from mini pill (fumulen) that got bad skin and not had bad skin from mirena!??? Or anyone been fine on normal coil??

Ive been great since and unbelievably it has no calmed down my periods, they are shorter and a lot lighter and i have no pain. The thing with contraception is though that it works different for each person, what might suit one person wouldnt suit the next, its all about trail and error. Having the coil inserted is a little uncomfortable but bearable, not much more than a smear.
