Does anyone have any real life Vbac stories where it didn't go well ?

Trying to decide whether to go for Vbac after 1st Csection for large baby and all I can find online are pro-Vbac websites! If you are willing to share your story, would help me understand the pro's and con's better. Thanks.

2short....now we know what it means, it will depend upon why you had a CS for your first,...a)foetal distress or b)pelvic disproportion.

My daughter had an emergency c-section with her first baby, she then went on to have a completely normal vaginal delivery a year later with her second.

Well, it would seem with that history that you could go for a normal vaginal delivery...............on the basis that you can be monitored and if foetal distress rears it's head again a CS can be performed.

2 short, I had a similar experience to you except that my son was not in distress, but after 36 hour labour, I didn't get past 8 cm dilated as he was lying back to back and was stuck fast (9lb 13oz!). I then had a section and they had a bit of tugging to pull him back. My second son was due just 13 months later and he was in exactly the same position prior to birth and so I had another section this time an elective. So I guess any future pregnancies of yours could follow the same pattern. I think an additional concern in my case was that I still had a fairly new scar as the babies were not far apart and they were not convinced that the scar tissue would hold during a normal birth. Surgeon said after the op that she was fairly sure that it wouldn't have based on the evidence observed.

I had my 1st by c section due to baby lying cross ways , had 2nd with forceps after 18 hours labour , then to be told " oh you have a small pelvis" thats why i needed forceps ! i should of had 2nd one by c section as well
as with others replies you may not know till youre in last stages of labour , good luck x

Thanks all for the responses. I had an elective csec because large babies run in my family (all 13lbs+) and both my sister in laws had horrendous labours followed by emergency csec when their babies got stuck. Tbh I think the pregnancy hormones got to me towards the end - all scans were showing my son would be at least 12lbs, I was 1 week overdue, was terrified of tearing badly and had just watched sone gruesome YouTube videos of live births in a bid to "educate" myself. In the end he was 10lbs but in retrospect I don't regret it: I healed really well and had no pain whatsoever. I think I'd like to try for a Vbac as my recover time will be shorter and will be easier with a toddler but I've never been in labour so dont know how my body will respond and at due date there will be only 2years between my children so worried about scar rupture.

Also I'm not dead set against it but would prefer not to be continuously monitored to give me the best chance of progressing labour - not sure how my local nhs hospital will view that - they were extremely stretched staffing wise two years ago and don't think that's changed (prob got worse since)
