sudden sugar intake during pregnancy
hey
im 24 weeks pregnant and over the past week i have had this sudden urge of wanting sugar especially cans of coke i am drinking 6/7 per day, before i was pregnant i didnt really enjoy anything like this :/ people say this isnt normal...i had a big baby in 1st pregnancy 8ib 14oz and diabetes is in my family but was tested for this just before i found out i was pregnant
any ideas why the sudden love for coke lol

Personally I think you just have cravings. From what I have seen (but I`m not an expert) people who have diabetes whether gestational or not, don`t crave sugar. They have other symptoms (thirst etc). You might not even be craving sugar but some other hidden ingredient in coke such as caramel or many of the other secret indredients that are contained in it. If...

I can't answer your question, but that amount of coke isn't good for anyone, pregnant or not - I would consider (if I were you) how much that stimulant might be affecting your baby, as well as not being good for your own health and teeth. I'd go see your doc or mention it to your midwife if I were you, just in case gestational diabetes is causing the problem, especially as it's a condition in your family.

who said i was laughing?! do u seriously think i want to drink this much!! i asked for advice and the last answer was prob the best thank u :) but daffy i do not need telling off i no cokes not good for baby...but my baby is already measuring 2 1/2 weeks bigger and is healthy so maybe it is my craving
As you are 24 weeks pregnant with a baby measuring 2.5 weeks ahead of that I suggest you insist on a GD test! Big baby is a symptom of GD
