lol love this thread, i told my husband and he looked horrified-both times, like his life was over ha ha ha! not alone but before he got up.
Took test with my sister. The last one he guessed so I took a test to shut him up. Kept it quiet for a few days though.
We looked at the test together, both swore and didn't speak to each other for 20 minutes (and it was planned!!!)
Question Author
ha ha why did you both swear prudie?
Can't remember. Seriously can't remember!
Can't remember but do vividly remember himself laughing (in a hysterical way) when I told him we were having twins (and he continued to do so for a number of days).
Because it was first month of trying so I don't think either of us were 100% on board with the idea 4get
Will you stop doing that!!!!!

first time i was terrified, i made him wait downstairs whilst i did test and then told him the news.

second time i tested when he was at work. when he came home he asked what i was grinning for and i showed him the stick :)
Pregnancy tests were not widely used when I was pregnant. It had to be a doctor's appointment taking a sample of wee after two missed periods. Personally, I think it was far better. A lot of pregnancies end in a very early miscarriage at about the time of the first missed period. Years ago, people didn't even realise they had miscarried.

I realise I am just old fashioned, but remain firm in my belief! ;o)
awe. poor red :(
Question Author
I have never thought of it that way and totally agree. x
i know what you mean, nowadays with those tests that work a week bofore period is due i have known loads of women who have had positives only to go on to have a loss by time period is due. i read once that its something like 30% of pregnacies that dont pass 5 weeks.
I think you can get some tests now that you can use even before you have even missed a period, must put an awful lot of stress on people.
Question Author
and I think some people trying can become obsessed a bit because of them
I agree to a certain extent Lottie. On the other hand, finding out early is good for the party animals.
My Mum just happened to do her pregnancy test on the 1st of April. My Dad thought I was an April fools!!
With my youngest I did the test in a public loo in Preston city centre. When the oh got in from work the conversation went:

Me: "I've got something to tell you".
oh: "You're pregnant"?
Me: "Yes".
It all seems a bit frantic these days and very stressful. Yes, Red it is about 30% which is very high and the second month can be iffy as well. I miscarried at 11 weeks, after only just having it confirmed. An unplanned pregnancy at that particular time!!
Also I don't think it's worth announcing you are pregnant (except to your partner!) before three months or longer have passed. Nicer being kept a secret and then there is only six months to wait and people don't get fed up with hearing about babies.
Never told anyone I was pregnant when expecting my son - was going to keep it a secret as long as possible but I shot out the front at an alarming rate in just a few months (never did put on weight anywhere else!!).
