i was given some tadpoles by my sons nursery as they didn't want them anymore. They have since turned into frogs and I have become quite attached. I am struggling to find things for them to eat. When they where tadpoles I gave then boiled lettuce and fish food and then went onto ham. I don't think this is cutting it anymore so I have tried putting some ants and worms and anything else small I could find in the garden but I think the ants are bitting the frogs and anything else seems to just be drowning. What should I do. Also, they will be goin into the garden very shortly and I have a very small frog pond to go outside. I was advised to put a hamster cage over the top to protect them from cats and birds. Is this a good idea?
Put them outside in the frog pond, you should put some large stones above the water line for the frogs to sit out of the water and some shady plants around the pond. There should be some sort of greenery in the pond (waterplants) the tadpoles and frogs should get their food from there. Maybe wire netting would stop birds and cats from getting to them. Why a whole hamster cage?
It's a very shallow pond with a raised area built in for the frogs. I'm not really sure if they will even stay in it. Thanks, I will put them outside and see what happens.
