Confused Over Blood Test

I've just moved home & have a new GP. I was due for a glucose blood test late December as my previous tests showed borderline Type 2 Diabetes. I had this blood test today but they told me at my new practice I didn't need to fast beforehand but know I had to when I had it done previously at my old surgery. As I ate/drank up till the time I had it done this morning will this give an incorrect reading or does it not matter. Just curious really. Happy New Year to fellow ABers x

Fasting blood tests and non-fasting blood tests show different readings, not incorrect ones. I have to do a fasting blood test for cholesterol every three months, the rest of the time, not.
You don't have to fast for a routine blood sugar test.
