Drunk and Stupid

Hi

I had unprotected sex on Saturday night, very drunk and decided why the hell not really! Now fear has set in and I realised what my actions could mean. My period finished on the Thursday, so what's the likelihood of me being pregnant? I need advice from anyone out there, thanks

No I haven't taken morning after pill. I think the panic has just set in and now it's all coming back to me. I feel really stupid!

You have 72 hours after intercourse to take the morning after pill. You can buy over the counter now, maybe you shoulld give it some thought.

I agree you should go to the chemist and buy the M.A.P.  Its about �20 and it is still effective (although not as much so) until tuesday night.  It effectiveness drops within the 72 hour window so get it ASAP.

 

As for maybe being pregnant, i would say its unlikely (but not impossible) as your most fertile time is about 14 days after the start of your period, obviously varying from person to person.

 

You can do a test after about a week to put your mind at rest and maybe think about going on the pill in case it happens again?

I just feel very ashammed, this has happened before but not for a long time, I just didn't want to be alone I guess. Stupid I know, I should really know better.

honey I hate to be the one to say this but the other thing you need to do is go to a clinic and get tested for disease, including hiv

Yes I know. I think the pregnancy thing freaked me out to start with, as I am already a single mum (was married husband left!) and struggling!!

I shall sort it out and stop drinking so heavily, it's so hard difficult when your low and drinking seems the only lifeline...

I'm a bit late with a response here, but i just wanted to say that i really suggest going to a clinic to get your self tested for STIs. I watched a programme the other day, which said STIs were on the increase, especially chlamidia(sp?) (something like 1 in 10 people now have chlamidia. A lot of them don't even know it because most people don't get any symtoms, therefore they are passing it on to more people without even knowing it.)

If you get tested soon after you've had unprotected sex and they do find an STI, most of them can get cleared up quickly (including chlamidia) but you need to act fast.

I am not trying to scare you, I am just stating that unfortunatly if you have unprotected sex, pregnancy isn't the only thing you need to worry about now.

It sounds like you're having a tough time at the minute and I think you need to get yourself some help. For a start, you're not stupid, you just did a stupid thing. If you are very low you should see your GP, ask to see a councillor. Maybe you can go out without drinking, for example go on a course, go walking, join a club, anything really so that you're getting out and meeting people (even if it's only superficially). Maybe if you feel better about yourself and less lonely you can stop the temptation to do this again.

Thanks for your message, and to all the other kind messages of support and good advice.

I am very depressed I must admit, I do see the gp regular due to this, but sometimes you just feel so alone. The last couple of years of my life have been really tough other than my wonderful daughter, it's so hard to keep going, but I know I must it's just hard somedays to find the energy within, I feel so tired.

Thanks I shall goto the clinic asap this week if I can get in.
