My daughter, now at 26 weeks into her pregnancy has been using crutches for the last week because of pelvic and muscle pain.

She tried the symphysis pubis support belt but was told that it wouldn’t help her as even with it on, she stilll had bad pain.

She’s now hardly sleeping at night and is in so much pain with both “the bump” and now in her arms and shoulders

Does anyone have any idea what she can do to help? Thanks.

I knew a woman who had this problem with all of her pregnancies. She used to go into a wheelchair for the final stretch. She would use crutches for short distances but knew that she had to spare her arms and shoulders. She only had one at a time, must be awful with twins.
I had it with my middle child. Really painful! Luckily for me once I got into the flow of walking the pain eased. I do remember just not wanting to stand up because I knew how much it would hurt.

Not an easy thing to do when you have a child to look after.

Twins...I suspect it'll be much worse.

Both babies weigh in at 2.1 & 2.2 lbs. so they’re already a helluva weight to carry around.

I guess he just has to grin and bear it. :(

She^^^^^

Maybe she should give up the crutches?
Does she work?
My Daughter suffered this too, quite debilitating.

Not sure if joining something like this (don't know if there's a cost) may lead to being able to discuss and share with others.

Yes she did, ummmm, but had to go on sick leave before her Mat Leave.

Thanks for that Mamya. I’ve sent the link to her.
You couldn't work in that much pain
I have known some really excellent chiropractors, osteopaths and physios who surely could give her some sort of relief. Give them a go- I am sure that there are methods to help her.
Poor girl chrissa , has she been offered physiology ?
Question Author
She’s had physio. Good idea about the chiropractor, Scarlett.
I think Anne means physiotherapy!

Chrissa, I had some agonising pain in pregnany, mainly in my back, and it's really not unreasonable to take Ibuprofen and Paracetamol when required. I certainly did.

Also heat compresses / hot water bottles when applied to the painful area can give enormous relief.
Question Author
Thanks for that, ladyCG. I’ll let her know.
Back pain and pelvic pain are different.
Question Author
She is going to see a chiropractor on Thursday and her doctor has given her a prescription for Paracodeine to take sparingly, if the pain gets too bad.
