I had an operation just three weeks ago and find I don't want to eat,I will have a piece of toast but have to force myself to eat half of it,mealtimes I dread,as my husband is trying to make me eat more,I manage the tiniest bit.Saw doc yesterday and said this can be usual as it is early days but I am worried that I might never be able to eat properly again. Is there something I can get to boost me up?

Can doctor prescribe any kind of "tonic"? Alternatively get some multivitamin capsules from Pharmacist to keep you vitamin levels high , I take one a day as a matter of course along with a 1000mg coconut oil capsule. And when we have some sun have a sit outside.

I must say that I agree with your doctor in that it is quite usual, particularly after a general anaesthetic to struggle with regaining one's appetite. From all the replies and suggestions that you got from your previous thread, i would expect you to be competing in size for President Trump's blimp ;-)
Be patient...eat what you can and your appetite will certainly return.
I agree with Sqad, the after effects of the anaesthetic knock you for six for at least three weeks. It took a good month for my appetite to return to anything like normal after my hip replacement. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Best wishes for a speedy recovery

Thank you so much Sqad for your reassurance ,made me feel much better, really getting worried as I seem to be eating less and less.x
What I would suggest is that while your appetite remains poor you take a dietary supplement like Complan or Ensure. That way you will still be getting the basic nutrients and they are very easy to take. I lived on them for weeks.

Thank you Jackdaw.
I also want ask you all, did you find your stomach hurting because of not eating enough?
I cannot remember my stomach hurting but I swear by those milk drinks. I still have the odd one if I don't feel like eating.
I had a major trauma about 4 months ago which resulted in a spell in intensive care and then about a week in an ordinary ward. As one who likes his food I found I wasn't fancying much, mainly due to having a dry mouth. The hospital didn't press me to eat and, when I got home, my wife let me choose the meals and let me eat as much, or little, as I wanted. My appetite soon returned to normal and now the problem is trying not to eat so much that I put on weight. Be patient, life will soon be back to normal.
Kloof I wouldn't say hurting, but you can get hunger pains when you don't eat.
