growth removal

Has anyone ever had a growth removed from any part of there body. I have a small one on my face which I have got to go and have removed in the hospital. Im a bit worried about how they will do it and will it hurt!

i have had a couple of moles removed from beneath my eyes and also one removed from my cheek. i had a local anaesthetic injection to numb the area, which stung a little, but the actual procedure was completely painless. try not to worry, you will be fine

I had a bunch of nerve fibres removed from my thumb (result of a badly healed cut). The reason for the removal was that the cut nerve had healed into a lump and it was permanently painful. The doc put in a shot of local anaesthetic and my whole thumb went numb. I actually watched him do it and put the stitches in and I never felt a thing, it was a bit sore afterwards but really okay. Sometimes they freeze moles off and that smarts a bit when done and is a bit sore afterawards as it scabs up but again honestly is no big deal. My Mum is in her eighties and has moles and lesions removed about every six months, she says the worst part is waiting in out patients because the clinics are always running late and the chairs are uncomfortable lol.

Honestly as Toecrusher has said, you will be fine

me too, even at age 52, I close my eyes, hold my breath and don't look...luckily my dentist is used to it now !!!

I had a very small lump removed from just above my lip it was a sebaceous cyst, everyone said they did not notice it but I did .. I had it done under local anaesthetic and I was awake, it is not the most pleasant thing i.e. like having a tooth out or something. I had a couple of stitches and then after a few days they took the stitches out and everything is fine. There is a small scar but easily covered. Make sure you massage the area to prevent scar tissue forming .. they will probably give you a leaflet, but really nothing to worry about.

When you say a growth, is it on the surface or under the skin? Depending on that, and what the actual growth is, they may be able to just freeze it. I had a small growth on my face which they froze. It,s not too unpleasant, just a little stinging sensation, but certainly nothing to worry about. The growth, over a period of around 2 weeks (depending on size) then dries up and falls off. It can leave a slight discolouration of the skin, but normally there's no visible mark left behind.

Thank you all for your answers,they have been a great help! I have been this morning to see a plastic surgen in a hospital and they tell me they can not remove it as the scarring will be 10 times worse. Its is a small wart like thing on my chin and if it wasnt raised and was flat I probably wouldnt be worried about it as I could cover it with make up. Im sure there must be some way to remove this.
