Would You Take A Covid Test

If you just had the symptons of a common cold?

Started with the sniffles and sneezes yesterday. This morning awoke to the same plus runney nose and sore throat. (No different from any other cold that I have had) and generally feel like carp.

Rang my son to say that I wouldn't be paying my weekly visit to see my granddauhter because I was ill in bed. His first response was to tell me to take a covid test.

Then my neighbor rang me to see if he could borrow my step ladders. Told him my symptoms and he asked if I could leave them in my porchway so he could pick them up and that I should have a covid test.

Thirdly, my mate rang and asked if I was at home as he and his 'lady friend' were planning a visit. Told him that I had a cold. Reaction....TAKE A COVID TEST! (and we'll have a meet up next week)

Since Covid, seems like everyone if terrified of a sneeze or a snuffle now. Its just a bloody cold fgs. And NO, I wouldnt want to even pass that on to anyone, but the obsession with Covid is surely now an anachronism?

No,  I wouldn't have a test if I had those symptoms, I'd just carry on as normal.

Probably not...but my daughter and her partner may if they know others around them have had it. Dd only meets with co-workers several times a month. About 3 weeks ago after she went to office she had symptoms*...and said co-workers had it. She goes out a lot, and I know she'd rather know so she doesn't spread it.

 

*...not covid...and no, she doesn't test habitually.

Depends how ill I felt but my son has Rheumatoid Arthritis, an autoimmune disease so we have to be careful and I would have a test if we felt it necessary. We have all had the latest covid and flu vaccines.

I think that the majority have now had more than eneough of this... BUT if someone is at risk of infection then I totally get it. Keep others safe.

This is what I dont get..

Why would you fork out for a test for a cold that you have had many times before?

(Or at least I have, at 57 yrs of age. Ive had loads of colds)

when I had Covid it felt pretty much like a cold, so I wouldn't be confident about telling them apart. And passing whatever it is on to others could be a good deal worse for them if it's Covid. So yes, I'd test.

if I'm sick it's discounted if COVID but not a cold, we are also going to see his mother and would not like to pass COVID on to her

My experience of covid was totally different than that of having a cold.

Everybody I give even a small monkeys about is vaccinated so no.

 

Her indoors likes to burn through our remaining free tests for anything though.

Exactly! Just don't see it. Here to stay (like the comon cold) just live with it and stop hiding behind the settee and face coverings.

Oh good! Hope you werent lectured to by the government during the pandemic/lockdowns then. Good to hear.

Is this about taking a COVID test now or your gripe with how the government handled saving lives during the pandemic?

My next-door neighbour told her daughter she had a cold and the daughter said, to test for Covid, so my neighbour went to Tesco to buy the test and she tested positive. So because of this, the daughter decided to not come round with her young children as she didn't want them to get it.

If you are not sure if it could be Covid and you mix with young and elderly people, then I think you should check it out.
