assuming everything is going ok with baby, how long does one normally stay in hospital for a cesarean birth?

Depends. Anything from 3 to 7 nights. Ward staff generally assess how you feel, how you are coping, is the scar healing ok, do you have other children at home? Many factors are considered, including the fact that Maternity wards are infrequently quite busy and if they can see you are coping alright they move you on so they can give the bed to someone else!

After my cesarian it is hard to move (durrr) and nurse a baby. I asked to go home on the 2nd day as Mr S was going to be at home to take care of me and baby.

i had to stay in for 5 days, i begged to go home but wasnt allowed, i dont know why.....but make the most of the rest and it is nice to have everything done for you and it nice to have the help with the baby especially if its your first......good luck xxx

Remember you can't drive for 6 weeks (I think) after.

If you do you're not coverred by your insurance

As long as your doctor says it's ok, you can drive. It does not have to be six weeks.

I had a c-secton with my last baby. I had her at 2.30 pm on a Friday and came home about 3pm on the Monday.

Gawd I had to stay in for a week after my C-Section, then got a row from my doctor for walking for miles pushing the pram, the day I got home lol. She gave me a big lecture on how it was "A major operation" and I should treat it that way
