Hi,
I am just wondering whether it is normal to not feel the babies movements and kicks as often as i did when i was only 12+ weeks, I'm now 21 weeks and 3 days and dont feel her as much or as hard as i used to and have tried using a stethscope to hear a heartbeat and cant yet.
Are the movements setlled because she could be asleep, etcetcetc.
Please get back to me ASAP.
Many thanks

You might find out that your placenta is at the front (like I did) cushioning the babies movements. Therefore you might not feel it as much as you normally would. Are you feeling some movement?
If you are worried, go to your maternity A&E, or midwife and get a scan done, or the heartbeat checked.

i think that midwives used to give out charts so that you could keep eye on movements. It may have been something like around 10 movements a day.
If you have any concerns then call your maternity unit or midwife straight away. If baby is a bit quiet it may just mean that theyd keep a closer eye on you both and give you regular scans.
Some babies are just quieter than others, my own never stopped moving at all 24 hours a day and that was just as worrying for me. I found once he was born though that he wriggles in his sleep and moves all night.

Yes, my friend's baby hardly moved the whole time she was pregnant, and now she's got a very quiet baby. Mine on the other hand didn't stop moving and now she's a very active and noisy baby! Like other people have said, get the heartbeat checked by a midwife if you're worried.
Checking it yourself with a stethocope might not be very effective as you don't know what position your baby's in and so you don't know the right place to listen. Also, 21 weeks might be a bit early to hear it with stethocope, it's best for the midwife to use a doppler which is more sensitive.
