OK guys, here is a blonde question.....

Why do they ask you when you are pregnant "what was the first day of your last period?"

My Doctor just told me I was 6 weeks pregnant but I only had sex unprotected for the first time 3 weeks ago.
I thought that made me 3 weeks pregnant! He said that you are 6 weeks pregnant coz that was the last day of your period.....

I'm confused! Is he lying to me lol?!?! I'm only joking I know he isnt lying but is he correct in what he is saying?

He is completely right, as it is how a pregnancy is dated by convention: from the first day of your last period. So in effect, you can be considered to have become pregnant up to 3 weeks BEFORE you even "really" conceived the baby. It is not absolutely accurate, obviously, and any gaps are normally put right at your first dating scan (at 10 to 13 weeks usually).
no hes right, they will use date from last period.

It all works out in the end as baby can be classed as full term from 37 weeks onwards and can arrive as late as 42 weeks.
