Coming off the pill... help!
13 Answers
I recently came off the pill (mycrogynon 30) after about 2 years because I was finding it very hard to lose weight despite eating healthily and exercising regularly. I've been off it now for about 7 weeks and there's still no sign of a period. For the last 2 weeks my boobs have been really sore, I''ve had a bit of an upset tummy everyday, and my appitite has SOARED (so I'm still putting on weight :( ) ! I'm starting to worry a bit about it all, I just wondered if anyone has experienced similar (or any) symptoms when coming off the pill, any experience or advice would be hugely appriciated!!
Thanks in advance everyone! xx Manda

I have fibrocystic breast disease, and thats caused by hormones, very sore, not that Im saying thats your problem just that id does affect breast tissue, like it does on a monthly basis with some people
good luck

Are you absolutely sure there is no way you could be pregnant? ( before everyone starts, yes there are times women get pregnant whilst on the pill). If that is definitely ruled out, I know lots of people have different effects when coming of the pill, it can take several months before everything is back to normal. Check with G.P to make sure all is o.k as you are worried.
I came off Microgynon about 6 weeks ago because I had some side effects. I was originally on Cilest but where I live now in Spain you can't get that so I had to change. (Here you buy it overe the counter). First they gave me one that I discovered was illegal now in UK because the levels of something or other was too high. So they put me on Microgynon and I put on a little weight at first, that just refused to budge. Where I work I am walking up and down stairs all day but nothing....anyway I decided to come off as i had been on them for 15 years (noone had ever told me that this was wrong) until I saw a report a month or so ago.
So I stopped. I had a period that lasted 1 day then nothing. I am still waiting.
Manda I am so glad that you posted this as I have plucking up the courage to ask this myself.

i came off the pill last august and it took me best part of a year to get periods back to normal, so i would say that more than likely its just your body adjusting to hormone balancing. now my periods are regular but i have PMT like i have never had before! I shouldt worry too much, your body will sort it out in time.
Thank you so much for your answers everyone. I took a pregnancy test today and it was negative - phew! I might make an appointment at the Drs to see what he says (I've never wanted a period so badly haha, gosh, it'll be a monster when it finally comes!!) . but reading those last few comments has put my mind at rest a little, thank you all. xx
hey ive recently come off the pill too (mycrogyn 30) after the same length of time as yourself, i still have no sign of a period either, and a few headaches but i think the period bit can varey with different people and dont think its uncommon. I also put on some weight but now im starting to loose it again x x x x
