I am going to my boyfriends sisters baby shower on Saturday, and well, I have no idea what to buy or what to wear!? Never really known any one who has had a baby before, so im kinda stuck! Any advice would be great :) Ta!!
It's very difficult to buy clothes for an unborn baby - you don't know the size required and if you buy larger to be sure, then it's pobably the wrong season by the time the outfit fits. How about one of those baby record books - all the birth details can be filled in plus the milestones reached during the first year. There are usually places for photos, perhaps a lock of hair and so on. I've bought one of these books on several occasions and it's always been very well received
Foxlee2's idea is good. Or, I'm having a baby soon and I've really appreciated new born sleep suits because, all our friends and family got us mainly 0-3 months clothes which are great but I appreciated the new born stuff more. Don't forget though that being a new born he/she won't be in it for long so nothing to pricey. Go in casual wear, these things usually aren't formal. Hope that helps x
I've never been to a baby shower before, but how about making up a little box of goodies? My baby is due in 9 weeks and my dad and step-mum have made up a "baby box" for me which is lovely! You could fill the box with shredded tissue paper and put things like baby shampoo, soothers, bibs, pampering bits for mum, etc. I am sure it will all come n nuseful and shouldn't too expensive (Boots have some really good deals on if you are in the UK).
The baby record books are lovely, however be careful as my friend ended up with 4! If you know anyone else who is going, might be worth discussing with them just to make sure.
Or u could just get your boyfriend to ask his sis if there is anything they need?
Failing that, i agree with Mountainboo...cant have to many sleepsuits.
hi i had a baby shower when i was pregnant. alot of people decided that the baby would have enough presents when it was born so brought me presents. it was really nice as i was at the end of my pregnancy feeling really fat and impatient it really cheered me up. i had a voucher for a salon for after i had the baby, which was great.
the most useful thing to buy for a baby that is always needed are things like nappies and wipes. they may seem like a boaring gift but they are very much appreciated
Well I have just been round the shops to buy some stuff I will need for hospital and what I would have loved but couldnt find is a goodie box for me! I ended up buying small jars of moisturiser, posh shampoo and conditioner, little packets of wipes, lip balm etc. I didn't buy the brands I usually buy, I pushed the boat out a little. Mums need pampering too.
Ive only just read the last 2 answers after going shopping for pressies!
I got 3 little dummies that are for 0-3 months, some wipes, some nappy bags, a little set in a cute little bag that is for babies bath time (with lotion and shampoo and a little hooded towel in) and a cute little Teddy that is holding a little blanket (gues it is a comforter or something lol!)
And I have put them in a 'baby' gift bag.
Hope I did ok! :)
And thanks everyone for your great advice!
And as for the babies size, well the midwife has said that she is a month before her time if that makes sense!
The baby is the size it would be if it was due now, but shes not due til begining of March, and she was a 10lb baby herself!
