Hi all,

Does anyone know how many weeks a newborn baby has to be to go on a long haul flight? My husband has some health issues and needs to go to America. He doesn't want to go without me or our baby. I'm due till end of April, but want to find out so I can make plans.

Thanks so much for any help. x

i was allowed to fly with my baby when he was 8 weeks.
This is probably something which different airlines may have different rules (a bit like flying when pregnant). Had a quick look on Virgin & BA websites, nothing specific is mentioned age wise.

Some other things you may also need to take into account are:
Getting the birth certificate
Getting baby's passport
Getting health insurance for baby
6-week check
Immunisation dates

and of course booking the flight, which I do not know if you can do prior to baby being born considering whether the sex is 100% confirmed (scans have been known to be wrong) and if you are firmly decided on names.

thanks very much for your help.
We flew to Cape Town with our daughter when she was 12 weeks old. Make sure you book a 'sky cot/basinette' for the baby. It is much easier to fly with a small baby than it is with a todder! We flew to Florida with my son when he was crawling and I never sat down for 9 hours!
