start of show or just discharge?
i've been hankering after a show for what seems like forever and just went to the loo and when i wiped there was some discharge on the tissue and a blob in the loo. nothing exciting but this is more discharge than i've ever had before. however, it was very pale - cream coloured, no blood. is your show always bloody and can it be pale and can it start slowly or am i just kidding myself here??

I had a small show over a week ago and have had nothing since, mine was small (about a teaspoon full - sorry if that's a bit yuvky for anyone!) but it was very pale, whitish and there was no blood - I phoned my midwife anyway and she told me not to get excited until there was blood in it and then we would reassess, she estimated that it would be a few days to a week of having the first show, but as yet I have had nothing although I have been getting pains that have been increasing.
How are you feeling today? Anything else happening? X

Its different from everybody but you can usually tell when its happening. I was having contractions for 3 days and they were doing my head in lol! I was getting them all over the place, on the third day they were 8 minuets apart so i went to the midwife and i was 7cm dialated and ready to go hospital. Its a sahme its not the same for everyone becasue then we would know whats going on lol..
Are you having braxton hicks or anything??

Oh, I hope this is the start for you! Are you timing the pains?
My labour started with a dull period period pain ache in my pelvis, back and thighs. The sensation stayed the same but just increased in intensity and frequency.
Try to stay active and try not to stress cos this can slow down labour.
Good luck, I'm crossing all my fingers and toes for you x

Morning Lorrymac , do you have the midwifes number to hand , and are you all packed and ready , though at 39+ weeks I expect you have been ready for a while. If you are getting regular uncomfy pains , and have had some early show I would give her a ring to update her and see what she says at this stage . xxx
Hi everyone.
I'm not timing anything because to be honest, a lot of what i'm feeling is constant. I now have a dull aching feeling in my hips/pelvis which isn't going. more pronounced on the right... but i bet if i move i'll get something somewhere else...? who knows. people keep telling me " you'll know!", but then you read birth stories and some women say that they didn't realise! i guess i just want to know what stage i'm at - not necessarily knowing if i'm in labour - but is this just how the last few weeks feel, or is it BH, or slow labour....?! it's the not knowing that's killing me!! but as everyone says - everyone is different so no one can tell you really!
does baby stay active during labour? my little one seems to be pushing out in every direction - i just feel constant outward pressure. i feel a lot of thing i guess......
rant rant rant! sorry!!! x

Lorry - that's exactly what I said to my hubby last night - if I knew what stage I was at everything would be so much more bearable! I have a constant dull period type pain, it's by no means painful but I am trying to take things easy in case I need my energy soon. If I knew I still had another few weeks then I could get on and be productive and do things!
Every now and then I get like a shooting pain, but, again, it's not exactly painful and then it's gone. Baby still has it's hoofs in my ribs so I am assuming it still hasn't engaged, as I am waiting for that "Ooooh I can breathe again!" feeling that MBoo described. Speaking of which, I think she logged on this morning but nothing since.......

Hi Natalie,
I posted a few days about engagement... (right word?) and my midwife put me at 2/5 enaged for the last few weeks but i haven't felt any relief at all. the baby still looks really high. however, i feel like i've been sat on a brick wall half the time which she says is the babies head.... she did say though that 2/5 is as much as she'd expect it to engage at this stage, she said it would fully engage during labour...but does she mean before labour or actually during?? or is this another instance where "every woman is different"?

LOL - Don't you get sick of hearing that?
For the past two days (but not today) I have had a really painful coccyx, so bad it'sh ard to sit down but it has stopped now.
I just checked all the threads I have been on and I haven't seen anything from MBoo today - how exciting, I wonder what she is up to? Hope at least one of us is getting some real progress!

i've spent the last few hours on my bed. wasn't even tired, just can't motivate myself to do anything! i'm getting tightenings quite regularly but i guess these are just BH. nothing else show wise.
weird to have pain in your coccyx but i'm sure i read that somewhere in my pregnancy book - think it's just an area of back pain that you get during pregnancy rather than it being labour related but i could very well be wrong.
still nothing from Mountainboo - think she's gone into labour?!?!
