Morning ladies, how are you all feeling today? I just got back from my 40week appt (Happy Due Date to me!). I am obviously providing too good a home to mini-nat because s/he still showing no signs of appearing just yet :-(

Everything is fine but s/he is still "not quite" engaged! I'm booked in for a stretch / sweep one week today and then induction on 17th if baby hasn't arrived by then. Can't believe I could have another two weeks of this.
Has anyone else had a stretch and sweep and was it successful?

I had a good 10-15minute walk there and back though so I am hoping that will get things moving a bit.

Has there been any word from Lorrymac yet? I hope everything is ok, am getting a bit worried now. I hope she is just being kepy busy with dirty nappies and feeds x

Hi Nat!
sorry to hear that your midwife appt wasnt as good as you hoped.

I had a sweep last time around and 41 weeks and it wasnt successful but i know many women who it worked for within 24 hours.

What you need is tips to help baby engage, did midwife suggest anything?

Still no sign of lorrymac, i suppose she is just busy or perhaps if she had c-sect she may not get online for a while either. Keep looking for any news though

Hi Red, it's not that I'm disappointed with the appt - it's good that everything is healthy i.e. BP, urine, blood results, etc. and I am pleased that baby is comfortable in there but it would be fantastic to hear her say that she thinks it could be soon, which of course she can't, but you know what I mean. I just want the baby here now!

I'm a bit confused now as I just read your post on Andrea's thread - my midwife put in my notes that baby is 4/5 engaged (which is good I assume!), but she said that baby is not fully engaged, although she doubts it will be moving anywhere now.

I hope she is just busy with dirty bums and bottles x
natalie Im guessing she meant it is engaged, 4/5, but not fully engaged, meaning not 5/5 which would be fully engaged Im assuming. If thats the case just remember I went from being 2/5 to being in labour! lol

The midwife did give a sweep when I was in labour and 2 cm dialated as I was very slow dialating and it was hoped a sweep would get things going. Holly was born about 3 hours later. I was told it sped up because the pethidine had relaxed me but we cant really be sure if it was that or the sweep, or a combination of both.
Try not to worry about lorry just yet. Its still only been 5 days since we have heard anything. She may have not had baby til Sunday or Monday and, depending on her health service, they may have kept her in for a day or two as routine as its her first. I was actually surprised when I was given the option to stay in another night instead of opting for the 6 hour release. Then once home shes probably busy with baby and surrounded by visitors. If for some reason she did need a c section, she probably wont be released til this weekend.

Now get on with getting your little one out and make sure youve got someone to come on here and let us know asap lol
Oh come on girls. :-(

Thanks Psy.

I have already given hubby instructions to either come on here and announce or to send someone a message through facebook, which will probaby be the most likely.
fully engaged would be 0/5ths, the measurement is amount that can be felt above the pelvis.

Its started to engaged nat so thats good. i never got more than 2/5ths last time before labour started.

So now baby is there it wont come out again, itll work its way down. xx

That means it's going backwards then because it was 2/5 last week? Oh bum. At least it is facing the right direction! Either way, in two weeks it will be here, however it comes :-P
Oooh I was going the other way red lol Thanks for putting me right! You would think after having two babies I would know eh? lol Maybe 3rd time lucky I will get it right............. did I really just say that? lol
we have to wait till tickle day
If only it was as gentle as a tickle!!
natalie, do you really think that midwife can tell the difference between 2/5th and 3/5ths that well. I doubt it has changed dramatically since last week so dont worry. xx

"Let" him?! Dammit, he helped get me in this state, he can be there to get me out of it too! LOL

I'm not worried Red; I have no idea if they can tell the difference between being 2/5, 4/5 or 20/5 engaged - I'd never heard of it until Lorry mentioned it the other week, and you mentioned just now what it actually is! It'll all happen when it's good and ready. Just hope it's not too long though eh, I am getting bored of it now :-P

If midwife was concerned she'd have mentioned to me how to get him/ her to engage I'm sure.

Errr.... Psy.... you mean it's not a case of *cough* and out it shoots? Oooh, ****** :-o
hi nat im sure everything will come into place soon now,im sure you are so on edge now wanting the baby out.do you know what yore having,i get confused with you all naw,as im also checking up threads to see if lorry has had anything!!
ive panicked a bit now though as i so my midwife yersterday as all my tummy muscles are killing mr as ive just come over a very bad cold and she said that the babys head is 4/5 down ,and im like not yet im not quite ready lol still feeling rough after been ill.
anyway hope to hear good news from youre end soon and good luck!!!
Hi Nat god that's gone quick. I had a sweep done the day after my due date and I had him 2 days later. Would have been sooner but he was laying on his side which is what slowed things down. It worked 1st time for me and I was lucky but I know people that have had a sweep done 4 or 5 times and they still haven't budged. Good luck. x

Hi Angel, how many weeks are you now?

We don't know if it's a boy or a girl; we asked to find out but little b*gger had it's legs crossed! Hubby is convinced it's a boy, I think it might be a girl. Neither of us mind either way, but one of us will be wrong! LOL. Do you know what you're having?

That's crap about having a cold, I felt like that a few weeks ago but thankfully it's gone now. I didn't have the energy to push open a door let alone push a baby out. I hope you start feeling better soon xx
nat, baby is engaged so you just let gravity do its job, all those long walks will be doing it good. You have my every sympathy hun if you do go overdue, i know exactly what thats like.

angel, when are you due?
Would you like me to make you my chilli m'dear? I gurantee you that will shift anything.
Question Author
China, I am cooking chilli as we 'speak'! I think Tesco must think I'm a bit bonkers, have been buying copious amounts of fresh chillis and pineapples in the past few days LOL
