drinkin while pregnant
hi all, my friend found out yesterday that she is 8 weeks pregnant. it was totally unplanned as she was on the injection and not in a stable relationship.i have been to see her this morning and she is worried about a couple of things and i wondered if anyof you have experienced the same.
1- 3 weeks ago she went to a friends 21st and got totally out of her face, mixing spirits etc etc, this was because she didnt realise she was pregnant, do you think this will have any effect on the baby? did any of you drink whilst pregnant?
2- she has been on the injection since she was 16, she has read stories that it can be dangerous to get pregnant whilst on the injection and there is more risk of ectopic pregnancy. has any of you fell pregnant on the depo injection or know anything about the effects on baby. i am also tryin for a baby but came off my injection last month as people had told me there are risks whilst on the injection.
anyone any advice?

as for the drink, look how many women dont know they are pregnant until 5 weeks or more into pregnancy. Chances are many of them drank or smoked before they knew.
Tell her not to be overly concerned about the drink but to check out the situation with the depo

I cant help with advice about the injection other than what red has already said about seeing the GP/nurse or midwife.
With my first pregnancy, I didnt find out til I was three months pregnant and had been drinking (although in moderation) and smoking. I immediately stopped drinking but was hardly drinking anyway as I had already gone off alcohol but it took me til I was 5 months nearly to give up smoking. Depsite this, I gave birth to healthy 7lb 3oz baby girl who is now a healthy and lively 7 year old.
Tell your friend that what has happened already, cant be changed. So just try not to worry, there will be plenty of opportunities for worrying over the next 7 months lol

she should be ok- with my son i got very drunk a few days before i found out i was pregnant- i stopped drinking as soon as i knew. with my daughter i drank on my birthday (3 bottles in moderation) and i was about 22 weeks preg then. As long as its a rarity and you dont go on a bender i think its ok xx
i only found i was pregnant at 18 weeks and been drinking and smoking all through that time, christmas being in the middle of it all didnt help with partys etc!!i was also on the pill so it was the biggest shock ever!i immediately stopped both and just been on full health kick to try and give baby best i can now,and to help with the guilt!!my doctor and midwife said not to worry and stop feeling guilty as theres nothing that can be done now,the majority of mums did it and think how many carry on regardless knowing baby is in them?!!ive had a great pregnancy im at my healthiest and baby is doing great,so please tell yuor friend to stop worrying its not good for you or baby and enjoy it.x
