back, hip groin pain and spasms

I have developed severe spasms in jmy low back just to the left of my spine (bony section back of hip) which radiates to my buttock, hip and groin and even down the front of my thigh (this as resulted in altered sensation to a muscle to the front/slightly inside of thigh. Doc says its muscular, chiropractic practice says sacrioliac joint. Anybody had same problem if so whats best remedy as I am due to start new job next week.
