midwife appointments and part timework
4 Answers
i currently work part time-2 days a week as i have a toddler and im now pregnant again. my midwife appointments at my local surgery fall on one of the days i work, a partner at work has suggested i try a diiferent branch of the surgery where a midwife may be available on one of my days off, however my surgery has suggested i stay to my local branch so theres not a lot of travel in my later stages of pregnancy as i don't drive. what are my rights to having antenatel time off whilst just working 16hrs???

you have rights no matter how long you have been employed or how many hours you work.
You have the right to take reasonable time off for your antenatal appointments, including time needed to travel to your clinic or gp, without loss of pay.
You should let your employer know when you need time off which they can ask to see your appointment card and certificate stating your pregnant.
i hope this helps i got it from the NHS pregnancy book

Hi Trouble - I think your work are being unreasonable - as already stated you are entitled to your apts. Also as this is your 2nd child the chances are you will only have 7 MW apts and 2 scans(which may fall on non-work days) . After the first apt you're only seeing MWfor about 20 mins per apt so its not too much to ask of work. Best wishes - and congrats! When are you due? x
