Thanks for your messages
Hi Everyone, thanks for all your best wishes regarding the birth of our baby son, who still has no name.
To summarise, the Labour was traumatic, 30 hours and they would only give me Entinox (Gas & Air) as they thought things were progressing, but they weren't, so it was a further 7 hours before I was finally allowed an Epidural, what a relief that was.
Anyway, the Epidural seemed to stop the contractions, so they were going to put me on a drip to intensify them, but wanted to check the rthe baby, so they did these blood samples twice from his scalp. I was still only 7.5cms dialated at this point and after the second sample, they decided baby was in distress, so I was taken down for an emergency Caesarian (not happy about that, felt like a failure)
Baby was born 27/06 at 00.23, weighing 10 pounds 4 ounces (4.7kg). We're home now, he was very quiet in hospital, but we got no sleep last night. I don't think he likes the Moses basket.

he'll be fine in the moses basket, babies just like a good shout sometimes.
that's a whopping baby, no wonder you had the C Section. anyone would have trouble delivering such a big baby. mine was 9.7lbs.. really hard work. I do feel for you, it's not like you elected for the CSD, you did your bestest!
any names yet?

Awww Velvetee, glad you're both home. Congratulations on the birth of your son!! I know its easy to say but you're not a failure, somethings are just out of our control, but I do understand what you mean - Mine wasn't a c-sect. but came v.close, I had forceps in the end and didn't feel a thing, felt like I'd missed out, but as you already know, the most important thing is not how they came into the world, but that they're healthy and loved!
Good luck on choosing a name - such a difficult choice!
Take care love k8 and Nancy x x x

Congratulations Velvetee, you have been given some sound advice in previous posts, sleep when baby sleeps is the best one. And as for the C section - well for a 10pound baby I think that was the best way, to have put him through the birth canal would have meant a big tear or episiotomy. Just put the birth behind you, look to the future and enjoy him. Well done and let us know when he has a name. What about Reuben? love to you all

Don't feel upet because you has a c-section - you did the best thing that you could do for the baby.
Maybe he doesn't like the sheets in the moses basket, I remember my oldest wouldn't settle when we brought him home, can't remember what sheets I had for him, but I changed to flannelette like they had in the hospital and he was happier.
Good luck with the little chap and take care of yourself.

Fantastic news Velvetee!! BUT - why on earth should you feel a failure for a c-section?? As squad says live mum live baby - result! My son hated his moses basket too - so we just went with a crib. Try rolling blankets to line each side of the basket to restrict his movement - it feels more secure like in the womb (obviously take care not to let him overheat) Lots of love xxx
ps Sara3 - whats wrong with electing for a section? ??

Hi Velvetee
Congratulations again poppet, I'm so pleased for you Mummy V! You did bloody well, don't ever think you didn't! And you obviously did a fab job of cooking him up nicely - 10lb 4oz is quite an achievement! Let us know how you're getting on with him and any names when you decide.
