benefits help please
a friend of mine is pregnant and her partner has asked her to leave the marital home, he didnt know she was pregnant at the time and now he knows, but he doesnt want to know.....she has no job and not on benefits, she has been staying with her mum for a month now, she will obviously find it hard to find work now as she is 13weeks pregnant...so would like to apply for some benefits, she has never been on benefits in her life and left her job when she got married coz she moved house. She owns her own house, which she bought buy to let and the rent pays for the mortgage, is she entitled to anything from the benefits system as she has no income coming in at all for her living..the house that she lived in with her husband is not her house, he owns it and now he wont pay for her or the child to be....please any advice will be great and appreciated very much...oh and if she tells the jobcentre that she has a buy to let house, is she still entitled to an benefits thanks so much in advance and serious answers please...im not joking today

well thanks for such a lovely answer. If sh is looking for a job, then she should claim jsa. When it gets nearer to the date, she may be entitled to ESA. Wheat kind of jobs has she been looking for?, perhaps she needs to look in a different sector, or egister with the JC so she can look at their jobs. There is usually temp work at this time of year - she could try agencies?
She needs to get down the job centre and claim JSA. It's quite simple and even though they expect you to look for work they won't have high expectations with her being pregnant. While she's there she can pick up some forms for family allowance so they can be sent off as soon as the baby arrives.
As for the house. As far as I know that will be fine as long as she's not making any profit. Any profit will be classed as earnings.
She also needs to get her bum to a solicitor to find out her rights and get everything in place for her CSA claim as soon as the baby is born.
