fertility blood tests
3 Answers
Hi.
I am difficulty conceiving and have been asked to submit blood tests for day 3 and day 21 of my cycle.
Can anyone tell me if they have to be from the same cycle or am I able to do day 21 from this cycle and day 3 from the next?
Thanks

I would think both tests should be from the same cycle. The day 3 will check hormone levels and the day 21 hormones etc will determine if you have ovulated during that cycle. Have you been asked to submit bloods for just 1 cycle or more than 1?
I too have been having difficulty conceiving. The results of my bloods showed that I was not ovulating. I am now taking clomifine on days 2 - 6 of my cycle to hopefully stimulate ovulation. I am on these for 3 consecutive cycles. This is my second cycle on the medication, so fingers crossed.
I hope everything works out well for you. Best wishes.

FSH Test: Day 3 FSH test measures the level of follicle stimulating hormone in your system. High levels of FSH can lower the quality of your eggs. In order to get pregnant you need FSH less than 9.
Progesterone Test: This will check if ovulation has taken place. It should be taken 7 days before a period, so for a 28-day cycle it is done on day 21. If a period doesn't come 6-8 days after the test, then it will need to be repeated. A level of 30 nmol/l or more suggests ovulation has occurred.
