shouldn't I be feeling something yet?
7 Answers
Hi all - I'm now 17 weeks pregnant, and still don't feel as though I am. I had my first scan at the end of March and all seemed fine. But now I'm worried that I have no symptoms, other than mood swings, and can't feel any movement. I'm getting fatter, and that's all, but that could well be down to the fact that since I found out i was pregnant, i stopped worrying about weight gain and ate healthily but often. When should I start feeling the symptoms of pregnancy or the baby moving? How do i know its still there?? (not meaning to sound melodramatic - so apologies if that's how I sound!).

You are lucky in one sense that you haven't had sickness or anything. Babies kicks do feel a bit like tiny flutters but unless you have felt this before can be very difficult to detect until baby is bigger.
hi, if it gives you reassurance, you can get private scans. I had one this week because i have been constantly worried and i wanted to tell everyone my news, but wanted to be VERY sure first. It cost £65, and to my mind was definately worth it for my peace of mind. Of course, in a few days i will be worrying again no doubt!
i think the average gestation for when you will start to feel baby move is about 18-20 weeks so dont worry.
When you had your 12 week scan was anything said about the placenta, as if its at the front then you wont feel the kicks til later on as it cushions them
The first movements are very very small, like a tiny popping sensation or butterflies so its hard to distinguish between that and a touch of wind.
As for no other symptoms, just consider yourself lucky :)

Hi - I will be 16 Weeks on Friday and as you, I havnt felt anything yet(not that I know of) I have no symptoms and I was only sick once during the first few months but I just consider myself to be one of the lucky ones :-) I to often wonder whats going on in there because I cant feel anything and just feel "normal". Everything was fine at my scan but you do still worry that bit. I have mentioned all this to my midwife and she said its all normal and not to worry, so Im just enjoying being pregnant and looking forward to being a mum. Dont worry Im sure you will feel movement soon, I did ask my midwife when to expect feelings of the baby moving etc, and she said with it being my first could be anything up to or just over 20 weeks, or before I realise that it is the baby. Try not to worry and enjoy the "normal" feeling period, thats what I keep telling myself :-)
