Baby Names thread 2
thought id start my own!
first of all, middle names - pointless or a nice addition?
secondly - if youve given your children middle names, did you consider their initials? is there something else id need to think of - dont want poor child with initials or a nickname because of my stupidity!

I gave both of my kids quite old fashioned 1st names (Nancy and Ivy) so decided to give them quite modern middle names (Scarlett and Lola) so that they can swap when they're older if they really hate their 1st names.
I Googled the initials before registering them both just to make sure that NSD and ILD didn't mean anything awful - I wanted to call 2nd daughter Violet, but the initails VD would've just been cruel!!
Its such a huge responsibility naming another human....have fun deciding! :)

trickier naming daughters if there's a possibility that they will acquire another surname later in life. You have to check the whole alphabet for possible rude words. But I think middle names are just to distinguish one Mary Smith from another Mary Smith, which will make life a lot easier for your descendants when they're working on their family tree..
My boys have their father's middle name as their third name (so they have two middle names) and we gave the girls my middle name as their third name so they wouldn't feel left out when they are older. We found it tricky to choose names as ex-teachers as a lot of names conjured up ex-students (not in a good way,).
