Tax Credits 2010/2011

My earnings part time £6700.
Partners earnings £13009

They have now awarded us only £50 a week from £130 a week. A massive drop.

The thing is, I actually go on Maternity leave in August 2011, so my earnings for this year are dramatically lesser then last years.

If i ring and tell them now, will this affect my payments this year, or wont it take effect till next year?

Every April my neice's tax credits plummet and then go back up once she has submitted her renewal

Yes, i read it right, which is why i was confused.

I have just rang and told them that as im due to go on Maternity in August, my 2011/2012 estimate would be much lower than 2010/2011.

This is why i was unsure which financial year they base my new payments on.

Any ideas as they couldnt tell me.

Hi Pinki.. Yes everyything matched up.. Think i'd slightly under estimated my partners wage and maybe that's the reason for the drop. It does seem drastic though :-(

Redhelen - I have one toddler at 2 and pay £42 a week for one days childcare.

i cant see where YN said she was on Child tax credits, and its perfectly plausable that she could have a child under the age of 1 even she was due again now, let alone going on maternity in august.
