I'm just curious so does anyone know why a call would come up as unknown number on my mobile phone. Does it mean that someone has dialled 141 (can you still do this and is it only on landlines)before ringing my mobile number or just that it's someone who is not in my phonebook ringing.
I'm asking because my mobile phone rang at 6am this morning.
My phone said unknown number and when I answered no-one actually talked but i could hear noises like when you ring someone by mistake. This wouldn't bother me but I know that my boyfriend's nutty ex girlfriend has somehow got my mobile number and i have a horrible feeling it was her ringing me. :O( she has a police harassment notice on her as she wouldn't leave us alone .

If from a land line they can dial 141 or if a mobile they can program it to hide their number
Change your number just in case.

i don't like the sound of that. :O( i know her mobile number because she text me a week or so ago. i know i can block numbers from ringing me on my mobile but do i guess right that this won't work if she does this?
I thought it said blocked or unavailable if you simply hadn't been passed the information. Could be wrong but I'd have thought unknown meant that the number hadn't been passed to the mobile company? Or I suppose the wording could be down to there handset manufacturer.

Could be calling from Skype or other VOIP.
My Skype always shows as number unknown when I use it to call a landline or mobile.
To anyone who can enlighten. I'm not fussed where information comes from :-)
