No
No, but I wouldn't let them go to their house if they smoked inside.
As Sherrardk suggests, keep the child away from the cigarette smoke (or, by insisting that the grandparents smoke outside when they visit you, keep the cigarette smoke away from the child). That's definitely not the same as keeping the child and the grandparents apart.

Chris
agree with sherrard, or if they smoke around the children
As a smoker..... I'd seriously hope your grandparents would keep themselves away from your child if they want a fag! I'll either not smoke or go outside if anyone brought a child into my house.
Yes.
No,. Their G/parents who smoked either smoked outside when visiting or visited. They weren't asked, they just did it.
No.

I would insist they smoke outside.
Really Mick?
Yes, really
' I've had three kids, it's never done them any harm'

stupid cow.

Thanks for all your comments. Food for thought.
Not sure who Mick's last remark is directed at, though.
Who said that Mick?
I am a Grandmother to four, also a smoker - have never and will never smoke around them.
Directed at the M-I-L
If they insisted on smoking in the same room as the child then Yes.
If not then No.
Question Author
Does that mean she (your M I L) never sees her grandchildren, Mick?
Ohhhhh....does she think she should be able to smoke in the same room as them?
^ probably not due to the smokey haze in front of her eyes
The grandparents across the road always go outside if they want a smoke. Anyone with any sense or consideration will do the same. Children come first.
