whats wrong with my sun burnt foot???
13 Answers
Hello I got sun burnt last sunday which is very nearly a week ago now.I burnt my face, tops of hands and tops of feet as wearing full body wet suit. Having sun burn has been as expected except my right foot, which is still painful and red. I have since burning cooled all sunburnt skin with cold compresses to slow/stop further burning, applied aftersun cream, and then sun cream if I go outside. My right foot however has shown no signs of improvement, it is very painful, swells up, restricts movement of toes, restricts movement and walking some of the time. It is not blistered just very red. Some times I can walk ok and then it feels like someone has dropped something on my foot and I have to hop around. At the moment as I have both feet up and my right feels very numb compared to the left, and makes me feel quite sick, it feels funny, as it's beyond the usual 3-7 days for sun burn to get better and the rest of my burns are better I don't know what to do, thanks.

I would take Ibuprofen 600mgs in one go, rest the foot today on a settee or something and get back to us in the morning.

Woke up this morning after a disturbed night with the foot feeling funny, is looks better... paler, is still hurts a bit but looks better, I have been busy already today on my feet and it hasn't been too bad I am hopeful that it is now getting better. but I half expect the colour to return by the end of the day. Will see how it goes and if is continues to be a problem next week I might request brief medical help at my local practice.
I may have an additional injury (bite/sting) but there was no pain at the time and there is no visible bite or lump. But I am not ruling anything out.
Thanks for the help :)

Just to say, I had sunburn on my feet a long time ago and boy did it hurt and hurt for a long long time. Even a year later it could burn and sting but not as bad as at the original time. I can only think that this is one of the most tender parts of the skin and when badly burnt it will take an age to heal properly. As I say this is personal experience and I just wanted to say it may be similar for you. Please to hear it's a little better today though, give it time and keep it moistened with a soothing lotion when you can.
