Have discovered that Julia Bradbury has named her new son - wait for it!! Zephyr. Poor little scrap. Why didn't she call him Capri or Sierra, or Morris Minor? Rolls Royce. Austin 7. Mini. The possibilities are endless. How on earth is this poor child going to go through life with a name like that? Mind you, a friend of my sons' has called his child Zebedee. I think that Registrars should refuse to allow such awful names.

Zephyr...well it's certainly original. Although in Julia's case I suspect he is called after the gentle wind rather than the Ford car!!. How do you propose that registrars decide what is an awful name? Even getting parents to agree on one child's name is difficult enough. And what about people who are immigrants, an innocent enough name in one language can mean something really rude in another. Also a name that may be perfectly acceptable at birth can become infamous during the lifetime.
