Children saying worrying things

Met with a friend last night and she was telling me that just as she was leaving the house her OH was bathing their 3 year old son when she heard him saying, 'Daddy, you slap Mummy's face when you come home from the pub and drink beer'. Then started sort of smacking his own face.

Now, her OH has certainly never smacked her in the face (don't think he'd be brave enough) or otherwise and neither of them smack the children. She has no idea where it's come from.

Aside from worrying that he might repeat that at nursery and people thinking something's going on at home, she's also wondering if maybe another child at nursery said something that he's picked up on. She's going to try and get it out of him if she can but I suggested when she drops him off there today she should tell the staff he'd said some odd things. Can you imagine if he said that to the wrong person, they'd think all sorts!

What would you do?

Not much you can do. He might have picked it from TV. You'd be surprised what they pick up. My son, when he was about 3, tried to snog his sister. The look on his face, the way he went in for the kiss...could only have been picked up from TV.
I ould say the same as ummmm been watching too much Eastenders .
I'm guessing it could have been from something on TV too or from another child.
Or hollyoaks.
Nursery are used to this sort of thing as well. If there was something wrong at home it's usually reflected in the childs behaviour. Not just what they say.
Friends little brother when walking past field of male cattle

Ooh cows
They're not cows they're bullocks
Thats what mummy says to daddy when she gets cross

Yeah, you're probably right. I know he's normally in bed by that sort of time but you never know what he might have seen that didn't occur to her. It was just the way it was so specific.
It's all mentioned on Jeremy Kyle as well, Judge Judy, Maury, Jerry Springer...
Kids do say the strangest things. I would guess this little boy isnt even up when daddy gets in from the pub so couldnt possibly see anything like this.
It happens so much on Tv he probably thinks its normal behaviour
Normal behaviour comes from the parents.
Perhaps some (suitable) re-assurances that Mummy and Daddy love each other would help.

She usually is aswell Smow. Lol

Sure you're all right now. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a Timmy Time episode with a drunk sheep giving his lady lamb friend a little slap.
When JtH, jnr was about 5 he was being irritating as we went round town. I'd had enough and spun around to tell him off........at which point he scuttled backwards, cowering, crying out "No, Mummy!! Don't kick me......AGAIN!".

Needless to say, I'd never raised a hand, let alone a foot to him before. :o(

Children!! They'll get you hanged.....LoL
"Wouldn't be surprised if there was a Timmy Time episode with a drunk sheep giving his lady lamb friend a little slap."

that's not fair - i snorted tea all over the laptop and looked most unattractive then
"her OH has certainly never smacked her in the face"
Maybe, just maybe, he did?

Oh my god! ha ha. And in public too. That's a ground, open, swallow moment.
Mine used to do that, Jack. They'd cower like I beat them up. It used to make me angrier.

No Grass, I'm confident that didn't actually happen.

Well, any remote broody feelings I may have had are quickly disappearing.
They are horrible things, children. My youngest still claims he's adopted...
