What's the relevance? Where's the quote from?
Possibly Navratilova. The quote suggests a tennis player who has overcome struggles in life and had a long career.
MN's parents divorced when she was 3, her old man topped himself when she was 8. She was stripped of her Czech citizenship, has faced prejudice regarding her sexuality and is a vegetarian. She recently was treated for breast cancer.
And of course she had a lengthy and very successful tennis career.
The only thing that doesn't quite fit is the use of the word "was", which suggests that the subject is deceased.
